Happy Wednesday everyone!
I am starting the day with an image that isn’t quite my style. Something left of centre. Something a little more creative.. and you know what, I like it. I wanted to create something a little different. I love collaborating with other artists & musicians because they’re always open to your ideas and are willing to give you a run for your money. When I arrived at Sierra’s house on Sunday I took a look around and fell in love with one painting I saw that was sitting on her desk. The only thing I could say was ‘Holy Crap that’s awesome’. I have such a big vocab don’t I? lol. But in all seriousness Sierra is one talented bunny. We met at a recent networking meeting called BNI and I think we clicked so well because let’s face it, we’re both loud, a little strange in a good way.. and unlike many of my previous opponents I really do feel as though I found my talkative match. Yes, I said it, I may have found the one person who could out talk me.. underwater. Everything about her was funky, in our pre-shoot brief she has told me over email a few things about her. She said she was immature, loved getting paint splatters everywhere and adored 50′s clothing. I smiled. I may have discovered the most down to earth, characteristic female of our generation..
So you guys should check out her work here. She works as a trainer and is looking to convert her life over eventually as a full time artist. She had a range of abstract art and holds regular exhibitions. When you meet her, you will be reassured her work reflects her personality.
This shot was taken (obviously four times in 4 different positions) and stitched together using masks and the clone tool in photoshop. I decided to shoot something like this because I asked Sierra, how do you paint? In simplest terms. She said ‘you know I can be all over the place! To put together my art I can be crouched up on top of the desk, sticking my tounge out, I don’t use an easel as I like to see flat what I’m doing and I can be all over the place!’ She also mentioned to me that she cranks up the music loud to get inspiration which I found really cool. Sometimes I listen to Ladysmith Black Mambazo while I’m editing.. ah the sweet sounds of Africa.
See you next time!!xx
